Alberta Innovates

Under Alberta Innovates, the Alberta Government has created new organizations that are building on Alberta's strengths in the health, energy and environment, technology and bio sectors:

  • Alberta Innovates - Technology Futures: Alberta Innovates - Technology Futures helps technical industries find solutions, develop products and move technologies to market. The Alberta Research Council, iCORE, Alberta Ingenuity and select Alberta Advanced Education and Technology programs are now a part of Alberta Innovates – Technology Futures.

  • Alberta Innovates - Bio Solutions: Alberta Innovates - Bio Solutions builds on the strengths and successes of the Alberta Prion Research Institute and the former Alberta Agricultural Research Institute, Alberta Forestry Research Institute and Alberta Life Sciences Institute. Bio Solutions is Alberta's leading agency for coordination and support of agricultural research.

  • Alberta Innovates – Energy and Environment Solutions: Alberta Innovates - Energy and Environment Solutions is a catalyst for developing innovative, integrated ways to convert our natural resources into market-ready, ecologically responsible energy. Its collaborators include large companies and consortia such as Helmholtz Association, Opti-Nexen, and Pratt and Whitney Rocketdyne. These collaborations are pursuing the next wave of solutions, including expanding the range of renewable energy technologies, such as waste-to-biofuels, geothermal and hydrogen systems. Alberta Innovates - Energy and Environment Solutions builds on the strengths and successes of the former Alberta Energy Research Institute and now includes the Alberta Water Research Institute.

  • Alberta Innovates - Health Solutions: Alberta Innovates - Health Solutions supports internationally competitive biomedical research, training and technology development.

  • Alberta Research and Innovation Authority: The Alberta Research and Innovation Authority is the international advisory body that provides strategic advice and recommendations to the Government of Alberta on research opportunities, emerging technologies and policy direction to enhance innovation.
