Sector opportunities for Alberta businesses interested in exporting their products

  • Agrifood: Agriculture opportunities are expected to expand in forage, cattle/swine genetics, canola oil, malt and feeds in the coming years. Governments and organizations in both countries are cooperating to offer opportunities for Albertan diary/meat products, refined canola oil and canola meal to access the China market. With the continuous efforts to re-enter China market after BSE, look for opportunities to export value-added pet foods and pet care products/services.

  • Building products: Energy efficient building materials, including windows and insulation materials, are in great demand in the China market if pricing is competitive.

  • Education and training: There are opportunities for teachers, executive, ESL and management training. Many Alberta institutions have joint programs with Chinese institutions in China.

  • Energy: Offshore oil and gas exploration and production opportunities are available for foreign investments. There are coal bed methane opportunities available in China for foreign investments as well.
