Sector opportunities for Alberta businesses interested in exporting their products
-
Environment: Venezuela's strict environmental laws create an opportunity for Alberta companies to provide new technologies and low cost solutions in the petroleum industry. There is a need for air and water quality monitoring equipment as well as systems to prevent ground water contamination in the oil and gas sector. Venezuela has also identified the replacement of urban sewage systems as a top priority. Investments are in water and wastewater infrastructure, especially those improving rural supply, require water purification equipment, construction and upgrading of the sewage system, purification of industrial effluents and measuring and monitoring equipment. In the area of solid waste management, Venezuelan municipalities require technologies and services for handling and disposal of solid waste, measuring and monitoring equipment and equipment for toxic waste handling and disposal.
-
Oil and gas equipment and services: Venezuela is looking to increase its heavy oil production and will be upgrading existing refineries to handle heavy oil. The expansion plans of Petróleos de Venezuela S.A. (PDVSA) have created demand for drilling equipment, spare drilling parts, production equipment and well completion services. Demand for pipeline equipment and services is also increasing. Venezuela wants to capitalize on its natural gas reserves and is looking to fast-track natural gas production projects.
