In 2009 the Southwest Region had 39 accommodation properties with a total of 1,325 rooms, representing 2.1% of the total number of rooms available in Alberta. The majority of room demand (55.7%) came from industrial crews, followed by tourists at 35.8%. The average occupancy rate in the region was 48.5%, compared to the provincial average of 58.6%. The average room rate was $83.57, 25.5% lower than the provincial average of $112.19.
