Opportunities

A number of opportunities exist for the Transportation and Logistics sector in Alberta, including:

  • Market diversification of crude oil and bitumen transportation from the US to offshore markets via a west coast outlet.
  • Shipments of bitumen via pipeline and/or rail to North American and offshore markets.
  • Port Alberta – enable greater prosperity by creating a globally recognized trade and transportation hub in the Greater Edmonton region.
  • Eastern Alberta Ports to Plains Corridor Development and Marketing Project aimed at the development and promotion of a north-south transportation corridor via the eastern portion of the province linking the US border and the regional municipality of Wood Buffalo.
  • Establishment of Transportation Utility Corridors to facilitate development for city, regional and provincial road, rail, utility and pipeline infrastructure.
