Major projects

As of March 31, 2011 there were 37 projects proposed, planned, under construction or recently completed in the Northeast region.  More than one-third of the projects are in the Infrastructure sector.

The total value for the projects in the Northeast region was $6.0 billion, as of March 31, 2011. The majority (86%) of the projects’ value is attributable to Oil Sands projects.

The Northeast region accounts for 3.3% of the value of all major construction projects in Alberta.  At the end of March 2011 there were three projects in the region on hold, with a total value of $555 million.

Please Note: 2010 and 2011 cannot be compared because some projects are carried over several years and there is only one cost available for the entire project.
