Forestry

• Total forest industry shipments (includes wood products and pulp and paper) reached approximately $4.7 billion in 2007, and exports were about $2.2 billion.

• Alberta covers over 66 million hectares of land; 58% or 38 million hectares is forested.

• Alberta's commercial productive timber land base of 22.5 million hectares, covers 35% of Alberta's total area and includes 2.2 cubic meters of growing stock.

• Annually, Alberta allows 26.1 million cubic metres to be harvested, of which 15.0 million cubic metres is coniferous and 11.2 million cubic metres is deciduous.
