Industrial Machinery and Equipment
Libya is embarking on an ambitious program to triple its oil output over the next ten to fifteen years. This will mean numerous opportunities in all areas of the industry.
Initial prospects will come in the seismic, service and training areas. Equipment will follow, but pricing may be tight as Libya puts strict restrictions on their auctioned parcels. Operators will be looking to keep expenses to a minimum. There is also some question of financial backing of some of the winning bidders.
With the planned expansion, Libya could soon supplant Algeria as the main producer in North Africa.
As with other countries in the Middle East-North Africa region, Libya gives preference to companies with local partners, or those who have set invested in the country through opening plants or service centres.
