Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program - Strategic Recruitment Stream - Trades

Congratulations on getting your Alberta Qualification Certificate

You may be eligible for the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) if:

  • You intend to and are able to live and work permanently in Alberta,
  • At the time of application, you
    • Are residing in Alberta,
    • Have a valid work permit from Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) in the trade in which you are certified, and
    • Are currently working in your trade for an Alberta Employer OR have previously worked in your trade with an Alberta Employer for a minimum of six months in the past two years.

As soon as you have your Alberta Qualification Certificate and you can say yes to the items above you are now ready to start the application process. You do not need an invitation letter to apply to the AINP.

Click below to register to watch a 15-minute webinar about the AINP immigration program for trades and how you can apply:

The application process:

  • As of May 1, 2012 AIT will no longer be sending out invitation letters for this category. Applicants no longer need to submit a copy of an invitation letter when they apply to the AINP. The AINP will confirm with AIT that you have a Qualification Certificate in your trade.

  • Mail your complete application to:

Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program
Strategic Recruitment Stream: Compulsory and Optional Trades Category or Engineering Occupations
Alberta Human Services
Suite 940, Telus Plaza North Tower
10025 Jasper Avenue
Edmonton, Alberta T5J 1S6

If your application is approved:

You will become a Provincial Nominee. You will get a nomination package in the mail. Make sure you read all documents in the package. The information in the package will tell you and your dependants how to apply to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) for permanent residence.

  • Submit your Application for Permanent Residence to Canada to CIC along with supporting documents. Visit the after you’re nominated section of AINP website for more information.
  • CIC will conduct health, criminality and security checks. If you and your dependants meet all required checks, CIC would then issue the permanent resident visa(s) for immigration to Alberta.

Meeting the criteria listed above does not guarantee your application will be processed or that you will be issued a nomination or a permanent resident visa.
