Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP)

Employer driven stream

About the Employer Driven Stream

The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program Employer Driven Stream is designed to meet the needs of Alberta employers who are unable to fill permanent positions with Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada. This stream helps candidates gain permanent residence and helps employers gain and retain needed workers.

Criteria for the Employer Driven Stream

There are three categories under this stream.

There are specific criteria for each category that employers and candidates must ensure they meet prior to applying to the AINP. Applications that do not meet criteria, or are incomplete may be delayed or declined. There are some eligibility criteria that are consistent for all Employer Driven categories.

Employer Driven Stream criteria for Alberta employers (includes but is not limited to):

Employers unable to fill skilled or select semi-skilled positions with Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada may present their business case to the AINP and apply for approval to recruit and/or retain foreign candidates to fill these positions. These positions must be permanent and full-time, must meet provincial employment and wage standards, and must not conflict with existing collective bargaining agreements.

Employers must also meet the criteria for the specific worker category under which they are applying.

Employer Driven Stream criteria for Employee candidates (includes but is not limited to):

The candidate identified by the employer is required to apply for a provincial nomination. The candidate must have accepted a permanent and full-time position with the employer and must meet the required education, accreditation, licenses, training and experience relevant to the occupation.

To be considered for a nomination, candidates must also meet criteria for the specific worker category under which they are applying.
