You can make Alberta your permanent home. There are a few different ways to immigrate to Alberta as a permanent resident.

Apply directly to Citizenship and Immigration Canada

You can apply directly to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) under their different categories for permanent immigration:

Skilled workers and professionals
Canadian Experience Class
Investors, entrepreneurs and self-employed people
Sponsoring your family

If you are just learning about your options for moving to Canada, you may wish to use CIC's Come to Canada Tool, which will help you understand your immigration options and how to apply.

Apply through the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program

If you have the skills needed by Alberta, the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) may be an option for you. There are a number of options with different eligibility criteria:

Applying for permanent residence in Alberta through the AINP is a two-step process:

  • Step 1 - Apply to the AINP and be nominated.
  • Step 2 - Apply to CIC as a Provincial Nominee. CIC makes the final decision on all permanent resident applications.
