Renting
Before you start looking for rental properties, decide how much rent you can afford, how many rooms you need, and the amount of space and type of housing you require.
Finding rental housing
There are several ways to find rental housing:
- Ask friends and people you meet about places to rent. Also contact services such as immigrant agencies.
- Look for Vacancy and For Rent signs in windows and on notice boards.
- Also look in the classified section of local newspapers.
- Find rental properties in your community within a specific price range.
If you're not confident speaking English, it's a good idea to take an English-speaking friend with you when you go to meet landlords.
