Emerging Industries

Alberta companies are engaging in significant efforts to add value to traditional resource-based industries and to encourage the development of more knowledge-based and advanced technology sectors. The emerging industries are those sectors that provide a significant opportunity to ensure that Alberta has a sustainable value-added economy that benefits all Albertans in the long run.

There are two main sectors identified as emerging industries in Alberta:

  • Advanced Materials
  • Health and Bio-Industries

Both of these emerging industries are supported by strong research infrastructure and government programs to ensure their continued development.
