Angel investors are a type of venture capitalist. They are generally wealthy individuals who invest in small businesses and start-ups with the intent of earning a higher rate of return than they could through other investments.
- Many of them are successful entrepreneurs themselves and can provide business expertise to the businesses they invest in.
- Many prefer to stay anonymous and rely on their business contacts for leads.
- Loans from angel investors are often less than $250,000.

Venture Capital Association of Alberta (VCAA)
VCAA is an industry association for investors interested in advancing the venture capital industry in Alberta.
