Important information about applying to the AINP

Instructions:

  • You must submit only one application for consideration 
  • Carefully review all available AINP streams and categories before submitting your application to ensure the best choice for your situation
  • Fully complete the required application forms
  • Include all of the documents listed on the document checklist
  • Mail or courier all forms and documents to AINP. The AINP will not accept application forms or supporting documents by email or fax.
  • Incomplete applications will not be processed and will be returned.

Tips for preparing your AINP application

Filling out AINP forms:

  • You will need at least Adobe Reader 8.1 to fill out the application forms.
  • Download our Helpful hints (PDF) to assist you in filling out the application forms.

Preparing your application package:

  • Applications must be in one package, held together by paper clips with the document checklist on top
  • Do not staple documents
  • Do not submit documents in binders, plastic protectors or folders, and do not include paper/plastic dividers
  • Double check your mailing address and the contact information in your application. The AINP will use this information to communicate with you regarding your application.

Submitting your application:

  • Applications must be mailed to the AINP. To track delivery of your application, send it by registered mail or by courier.
  • AINP does not accept applications by email or fax.
  • You will receive your file number after your application has been received. This may take up to a few months.
  • See the AINP processing and inventory page for more information on application processing and inventory status.

Note: If the AINP discovers fraud or misrepresentation in an application, an applicant may be banned for up to five years from reapplying to the AINP.

Employer-Driven Stream Semi-Skilled Worker Category

Download the appropriate document checklist that outlines all forms and supporting documents required to apply to the AINP:

  • Send all Candidate and Employer forms and supporting documents together in one package to the AINP.
  • Alberta Employer or the Candidate can mail the complete package.
  • AINP does not accept applications by email or fax. 
  • The Foodservice Industry (pilot project) is required to submit all forms and supporting documents at the same time.

  • Alberta Agriculture and Forestry will not accept applications by email or fax.
