About Productivity Alberta

Government action on productivity improvement

The Alberta government, in close partnership with industry, communities, and other levels of government, is developing an Alberta Productivity Improvement Action Plan. The plan, a strategic three-pronged approach to addressing the productivity growth challenges faced by our province, focuses on:

  • Productivity education and awareness

  • Productivity enhancement tools

  • Policies to promote and enhance productivity and innovation

Strong leadership and a collaborative approach are the keys to making a difference. It will take business, industry, academic institutions, associations and other related agencies, and all three levels of government to work together to make a significant impact. The role of the Alberta government is to bring the players together and continue to design and implement made-in-Alberta solutions and global best practices.

There are many drivers in industry competitiveness today. Everyone is seeking more knowledge, but drowning in information. We tend to increasingly compartmentalize and develop silos or “drill holes” of specialty expertise. That is why a collaborative approach is so important.
